Can Energy+ by Amare Help My Autistic Son? Our New Experiment

Amare Energy+

If you’re anything like me, your kitchen counter is probably starting to look a bit like a pharmacy. We try so many different things to help our kids feel their best, navigate the world a little easier, and just be comfortable in their own skin.

Recently, we added a new player to the lineup: Energy+ supplement from Amare.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. "Energy? My kid has enough energy to power a small city!" But this isn't about bouncing off the walls. This is something entirely different, and I wanted to share why we are giving it a shot and what our experience has been so far.

The MAPS Doctor Recommendation

We recently had our very first appointment with a MAPS doctor. For those who don't know, that stands for the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs. These doctors specialize in the complex medical issues often associated with autism. It was a long appointment, lots of questions, lots of history.

At the end of it, she handed us a plan. One of the top recommendations on that list was the supplement Energy+.

She explained that despite the name, it wasn't about winding him up. It was about mental energy and focus. She told us that many kids on the spectrum struggle with "brain fog" or mental fatigue, which makes concentration incredibly hard. When your brain is tired, emotional regulation goes out the window. The goal here is to help with concentration and mental clarity without the jitters you get from caffeine or sugar.

What Is Energy+ Anyway?

I did a little digging after we got home. Basically, it’s a powdered drink mix that focuses on the gut-brain axis. We hear about the gut-brain connection constantly in the autism community, right? The idea is that the gut and brain actually "talk" to each other through a bunch of chemical messengers and nerve pathways—so if your gut is happy and balanced, your brain can work better too.

Energy+ is designed to support this connection. It uses ingredients like Guayusa leaf extract, Pomegranate, and Matcha, all of which are thought to boost natural energy without crashing you later on. But what really stood out to me—and to our doctor—is that it's made to gently wake up the mind, not overstimulate it.

When it comes to concentration, especially for kids who struggle with focus or mental fatigue, the right kind of support makes all the difference. Energy+ claims to help clear away that mental fog that can make it hard to pay attention or shift between activities. If you think about times when your brain just feels tired and fuzzy, that’s what this supplement is aiming to fix.

Energy+ Supplement for Autism

The gut-brain axis tie-in means the supplement supports not just the brain, but also digestion and overall well-being. By improving gut health, it might help balance things like neurotransmitter production and stress responses, both of which play a big part in how well someone can focus or handle daily challenges. For kids on the spectrum, things like attention and self-regulation often take extra mental energy, and something that gives their brain a clearer signal could be a real game changer.

So, the big claim here is better:

  • Mental Clarity: Clearing out that fog so tasks don't feel so overwhelming, letting your child tackle school or play with more ease.

  • Focus: Helping the brain stick to one thing at a time, so distractions don’t constantly steal attention.

  • Mood: If your brain feels good, your mood usually follows—so hopefully, a brighter, calmer day overall.

For my son, the hope is that supporting his gut and brain at the same time will help him focus on what he wants to do, whether it’s at school, during ABA therapy, or just hanging out at home. I’m especially excited by anything that might help him feel more in control and a little less overwhelmed by his day.

The Taste Struggle is Real

So, we have the science, we have the doctor’s orders, and we have the supplement. Now comes the hard part: actually getting him to drink it.

If you have a sensory-sensitive kid, you know that flavor and texture are the ultimate gatekeepers. You can have the miracle cure for everything, but if it tastes "wrong," it’s not happening.

Amare Energy+ comes as a powder you mix into water. It’s fizzy and fruity. To me? It tastes pretty good. To my son? It is suspicious.

We are currently in the negotiation phase. I’ve tried diluting it with tons of water. I’ve tried mixing it into juice. I’ve tried the "just one sip" bribery method. So far, the taste is our biggest hurdle. He takes one sip and gives me that look—you know the one—that says, "Why have you betrayed me?"

We aren't giving up, though. We are experimenting with mixing it into smoothies or perhaps freezing it into popsicles. I’m determined to find a vehicle for this stuff because I really want to see if it works.

Will It Work?

That’s the million-dollar question. Will this help his concentration? Will it make schoolwork less of a battle?

For us, focus has always been a huge challenge. My son struggles with staying on task, even with activities he enjoys. He can get lost in distractions, jumping from one thing to another or needing constant reminders to come back to what he was doing. Sometimes, even simple directions feel like they get lost in a mental fog. Shifting attention is tough too—when it’s time to switch from playing to homework, for example, transitions can turn into full meltdowns. He often seems mentally drained by midday, which means by the afternoon, there’s little energy left for learning or socializing.

All of this makes daily life harder for him, both at school and at home. Tasks like finishing assignments, following routines, or even just joining in family activities require a level of mental effort that most kids don’t think twice about.

Honestly, I don't know yet if the Energy+ supplement will help with these specific issues. We are too early in the process (and struggling too much with the taste) to see definitive results. But I am hopeful. The science behind supporting the gut to help the brain makes sense to me, and I trust our new doctor’s perspective.

I’m going to keep trying to sneak this into his diet, and I will definitely report back if we start seeing those changes in focus and clarity. Until then, wish us luck with the taste testing!
